Dr. Louis Huneault has been part of our team since 2007. Every day, he makes a difference in our team and in your pets’ lives through his energy and his efficiency.
“I became an orthopedic veterinarian for a combination of reasons: I was born on a farm to a veterinarian father, and had an accident as a teenager where a surgeon repaired multiple fractures in my right hand, which automatically made me want to pursue this type of medicine. What is most important in my work is that the owners leave the consultation with a clear understanding of the explanations so that they can make an informed decision for the future, as well as the attention to detail required by surgeries. Over the years, I have developed several interests in basic and advanced orthopedics: cruciate ligament rupture, pelvic osteotomies for hip dysplasia, total hip replacement, fixation of certain minimally invasive fractures with fluoroscopy, complex fractures, and management of angular limb deformities with 3D printing.”
Dr. Huneault received his doctorate from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal in 1999. He subsequently completed an advanced internship in applied veterinary sciences (IPSAV) at the same university in 2000, and a master’s degree (MSc) and residency (DES) in surgery in 2003. He graduated from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2005. Dr. Huneault worked as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal until 2007, where he was the recipient of the Norden Award for Excellence in Teaching.
