Dr. Kasuto joined the hospital team in August 2013 to help develop and manage a new emergency/critical care unit.
Dr. Kasuto began his career as a volunteer helper at the Pierrefonds Veterinary Hospital while completing a bachelor’s degree in animal biology at McGill University. He worked at the hospital as an assistant technician while studying veterinary medicine at the Université de Montréal. He graduated from the École de Médecine Vétérinaire in 2007.
He worked as an emergency/critical care clinician at Alta Vista Veterinary Hospital in Ottawa for six years, working with several specialists and gaining experience in the field. He also taught part-time to students in Algonquin College’s Animal Health Technician program.
He has chosen to devote his career to emergency medicine and critical care (he received an award from the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society in 2008 for his competence in this field). He is particularly interested in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (certified in veterinary CPR by RECOVER), anesthesia, emergency surgery and teaching.
He shares his life with his wife, son and their pets. In his spare time, he enjoys two of his greatest passions: climbing and music
